Guaranteed Signups vs. PPC Lead Generating
Originally, I had replied with this answer in the comment section of the Is PowerSignups a Scam post.
After reading it, I really feel like the content answers some of the major questions people have about guaranteed signups; especially those questions relating to quality and how marketing to guaranteed signups is different than SEM (search engine marketing).
I’d really like to see your questions on this subject, and use this as a sounding board for helping our advertisers make more money from their campaigns.
However, a large portion of people who choose to advertise with guaranteed signups simply don’t market to the leads correctly. For one, purchasing guaranteed signups shouldn’t even be compared to pay-per-click or search marketing. You can’t expect to get the same results from two completely different forms of advertising. ESPECIALLY if you’re attempting to market the exact same way.
For instance, let’s say you have a “make money from home with ebay” type offer.
You put up a search campaign for “make money with ebay” type keywords. You have a text ad that comes up in the search results, and your web page goes into further detail about making money from home with ebay.
The filtering process for search looks something like this:
1. Keywords: Only get searches from people who want to make money online with ebay
2. Ad Text: Only get clicks from people who want to know more about what YOU’RE saying in regards to making money online with ebay
3. Web Page: Only get signups from people who feel your offer is exactly what they were looking for from the beginning of their search.
In contrast, the filtering process for guaranteed signups looks like this:
1. Interest: Your website is visited by people who are interested in ANY type of home business, or make money program.
2. Web Page: Only get signups from people who feel your offer MIGHT be interesting to them
As a marketer, especially as a marketer with a budget (all of us), it’s your responsibility to know which form of advertising best meets your ROI (return on investment) requirements. If it costs $49.95 on search to get 10-20 prospects for you to market to with a 5% conversion rate on those prospects, and $49.95 on guaranteed signups for 100 prospects to market to with a 1% conversion rate on those prospects, then you’r making more money with the guaranteed signups.
If the search example above yields a 10% conversion and the guaranteed signups only brings in a .5% conversion, then you’d be crazy to choose guaranteed signups over search.
Moral of the story?
Certain offers, budgets, and technical skills require different advertising methods. Before you sink your money into any advertising method, definitely make sure you know EXACTLY wat you want to get out of it.
Good Luck!
That makes lots of sense to me. PPC is or can be very targeted but so many do it wrong they end up losing money and making google rich. You just really gotta learn ppc the right way and either way most don’t follow up with the leads that opt into their websites and thats probably the biggest problem people will have. Just my take here.
